Latest scarves woven by me

More heddles for my loom....will be making blankets soon...

Knitting my first sweater

So after scouring the internet to find a sweater that says me I finally found one.
I had hoped to find something with easy to follow instructions...but no such luck. I settled on one called Kauni Oversized which was on Ravelry. So I cast on 380 stitches for the ribbing. This pattern was poorly written so as I am working on this I am rewriting it as I go.

This is a photo of the sweater from the pattern which can be found HERE
Now doesn't this just scream ME! lol
As I make this I will update and allow you to follow its birth :-) I will not be using the Kuani Effekt Yarn but am going to have one of my sweet amazing Facebook friends make it for me. She does some amazing Dye Jobs and hand spun Yarns  YARN BABY LLC .
Now to find someone to create my magnificent buttons for this piece of work!.

This that and the other

Working on a variegated brown scarf on my weaving loom....Tomorrow I am warping to start a woven blanket for my granddaughter Sophiya's 7th birthday...I am naming it buttons and bows...because Sophie has a new sister still baking I had to make sure there would be no choke hazards...so I am using felt buttons....I am also working on a few blankets for this new baby who will be named Victoria Kay.....Today we had a F16 fighter jet banking around our town...Everyone is curious as to why we were graced with its loud presence. ...Spring is coming the snow is melting and tomorrow I will be shooting butterflies...

I think I am officially a hooker

:-) not that kind silly...A crocheter....I have been working on learning how to read patterns and stitches and can honestly say I am excited and making a shawl for my wedding ceremony.  Plus I am knitting now.  As a lefty it is hard to learn this stuff being in a house of righty's.

Lefty's rule....

Black with a hint of gold

Really enjoying weaving on my Ashford Rigid Heddle loom. I have decided that I need to invest in the 4 other sizes of reeds so I can play with a variety of other sized warps.  I do variegated yarns as the weft for a more colorful color variation.
With the weather being as frigid as it is I find myself staying in and weaving.
Is it springtime yet?

Weaving....my winter pasttime

With a more severe winter than I have seen in years (1978) I have not been able to get out and do much photography. I have taken up weaving and am doing well with it. Aside from potholders as a kid I have never really done this.

Welcome to my life

Well its fall again here in Michigan. I have pretty quiet because I am often worried anything I write will be misconstrued by people who think they can benefit by writing lies about me. I have had my character assassinated and been accused of being someone or something I am not.

I am getting ready for a court battle that will either make me or break me. (Don't worry I can't really be broken just bent.)  I am fighting for my life and love of family. I have 3 beautiful grandsons who mean everything to me. I won't get into the whole story right now. I have spent a better part of 3 years fighting for these boys and am not about to give up as of yet.

I made a mistake once of trusting in the system and it failed me...miserably and to this day I am making it up and fixing the damage they caused.

I am also getting ready to welcome 2 new daughters in to my family. Two of my sons have proposed to a couple of amazing gals and I am proud to have them join my family.
As well I am getting ready to marry my soul mate and best friend which could happen anytime now. We aren't going for a big lavished wedding, we are eloping with only enough forewarning to my kids and the 2 people witnessing the ceremony to meet with us. I don't want chaotic I was nice and simple.
I have been shooting a little bit more and focusing more on people. Before I was merely landscape and macro but I have broadened my horizon and feel more confident in portraits.

I will write more freely eventually. My plate gets full and life has a habit of taking me on journies others couldn't even fathom. I hope it all slows down soon and i can bring my 3 babies home and tuck them in at night and read to them and do all the stuff I did when i was a full time parent. I am ready to do this after all if something were to happen to you wouldn't you want to know your parent or parents were there ready to step up to the plate and take over for you?

It's been a while since I blogged

I haven't blogged in a while because life happened. This doesn't mean i didn't pick up my camera and shoot anything, it just means that other things took priority in my life and took precedent over my being on the internet.

Life Happens!
I am now engaged to the most amazing person in the world. I have known this special person since 1991 and we were friends all through these years. We have lived together for 8 years now and I can honestly say I am marrying my best friend.

Nature...what a wonderful thing

Recently I entered a photo into a photo contest in FOTKI which I have been a member of since 2005 but let it lapse and had to rejoin....The closest I got to the top 10 winners was spot 4..which I was kind of proud of the photo but looked at it as I could have done better....We are our worst critics...
I have been recently working on my yard because I want to photograph birds....So daily I go out there and sit at my table with my camera ready to shoot....In the previous years I have only been able to catch the Baltimore Oriole in a tree or just hear him singing..but in the past few weeks he has become a regular in my yard and I have been able to capture some fantastic shots of him and her feeding. They are no longer timid with me around...or they just love my grape jelly to death....Above is the photo which took 3rd place....I see it and still think I can do better...(looking for donations to buy a 500mm Nikon lenses (chuckles) it costs anywhere from $1500. to $3000.
My latest photo of Mr. B Oriole I think is better....but as of right now everyone here on the lake think it's awesome that my setup in my yard is bringing in more birds and with a variance of colors....Guess I just picked the right grape jelly..or maybe its the bowl I have it in...but whatever the reason  this pair just keep coming back to eat more jelly.....

Meet Mr. Blue Jay...he sits by my window all day and talks to me if I am at my computer wanting me to go outside....he doesn't fly away when I approach him either he just hops around my yard and always looks up to make sure me and my camera are pointed in his direction...what a clown....

I put  3 of my prints in a showing which hangs at the Cherry Hill Ice Cream Parlor they will hang there for a month.

Well that's whats happening in my world...

Springtime....I just love it

Orchard Oriole
With Spring here so are the colorful birds and flowers. I have put up more feeding stations in my yard, including a hummingbird feeder. I have spotted 3 hummingbirds but was so entranced in them I didn't get my picture, Eventually though it will happen as they start coming more. However the Orchard Orioles have made my yard their home and I can spot them visiting often and they don't fly off as soon as they see me.As the weather gets warmer I will take more photos and venture out more and explore places here in Michigan. June 11th I will be again hanging some of my favorite photos which I have taken from Western Michigan area at the Parlor Located in the Cherry Hill Market on Cherry Street. There will be 3 or 4 other photographers works of art hanging along with mine. Well, off to go see who is residing in my yard besides the 2 new families of geese and their gosling's (4 gosling's each) or the Mallard who has at least 8 ducklings in tow...Hope you have a memorable day...

Time to make things happen

Today is really cold and wet outside. Michigan even though their weather is unpredictable is a very beautiful state with breath taking views and vast beaches. The colors change in the fall to reveal Michigan in all its splendor. Recently I spent 9 days down in Slidell, Louisiana and had the pleasure of visiting 2 very beautiful plantations as well as some small towns on the gulf. I took photos along the way and met some very awesome people. I learn about some real life stories involving Hurricane Katrina and how even after it the people pulled together to rebuild. I witnessed and documented some trees which were carved into Angel's and each tree has a story of salvation for people who clung onto them to survive. I also spent time in the French Quarters, however i did not care to much for it because it reeked of vomit, urine, garbage, and sewage, wrap all those smells up with temperatures of 88-90 degrees and you got the picture. I did however enjoy most of my time walking around the art district and watched some really awesome painters make masterpieces that I would have gladly bought and displayed on my walls at home.
Summer is upon us soon and I can't wait to just grab my camera and run off to parts unknown in my state. I do yearn to visit Leland, Michigan where the town is build over the water and boats travel along the boardwalk and dock to shop. I also want to visit a couple of lighthouses up that way to continue documenting Michigan's Lighthouses for my photo book I am working on.

The photo is of Houmas House Plantation in Darrow, Louisiana. I only wanted to stroll the grounds and after I left had wished I had taken a tour of the home also. my stroll entailed a couple walks around the property and looking at it at every angle. My third stroll I took the photos and tried to capture the beauty of this expanse home and its beautiful gardens.

Just setting up

I am working on putting my photography up in this area...
I am hoping others will wander in here and let me know what they think...
